South Beach Hotels Staying in Style in Miami

South Beach is a combination of sparkling sunshine, a wide stretch of white sand beach, stylish Art Deco architecture, and some of the best people-watching in the world. Here, fashion models, South American heiresses, and movie stars mix with tourists from all over the United States and aboard. Predictably, the area has spawned a collection of unique and luxurious hotels, all with that certain South Florida flair. Two of the best of these are the Delano and the Tides Hotel.
Sparkling, fresh, white, and beautiful: the Delano Hotel in Miami Beach (pictured above) mirrors the powdery sand located just steps outside its doors. One of the very few beachfront hotels in the Art Deco district, the Delano offers classy, elegant surroundings and world-class pampering. The accommodations here are calmingly white, reminiscent of the Greek Isles, with white wooden floors, white cotton slipcovered furniture, and white marble baths. Enjoy the menu of spa services, such as an hour-long Swedish massage or a lavender and eucalyptus body scrub, provided by the rooftop “Agua” Spa here. Cuddle up to a cozy, beachside dinner for two in a private cabana, served by your own personal butler.
The hotel restaurant, “The Blue Door,” co-owned by none other than Madonna, features an interesting mix of French and Brazilian cuisine. Sleek and Mediterranean, yet uniquely American, the Delano is a deluxe oasis amid the frenetic nightlife and “see and be seen” people watching in Miami’s South Beach.
The Tides Hotel
The chic Tides Hotel on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach’s Art Deco district is reminiscent of a 1940s ocean liner. Its sleek lines, crisp white and cream interiors, porthole windows, and ocean views take guests back to an elegant, slower paced, and simpler time. The amenities here are far from dated, though. The Tides offers wireless Internet access and dvd players in all its guestrooms, has a relaxing rooftop patio, and offers telescopes as a quirky touch in all its ocean view rooms. The ground-level restaurant,”1220” is a chic meeting place serving casual progressive American cuisine and the restaurant’s bar is the place for a rendezvous in South Beach.
